This stunning alphabet originates from the 1860's and it was then meant to be used as "initials for pillow-case". The letters were published in 1866 in Peterson's Magazine. The A B C & D were published in March, the E F G in April, the H & J in May, K & L in June, M P N & O in July, Q & R in August, S T U & V in September and W X & Y in October of the same year. These letters were so special that the ladies of the day had to continue to buy the magazine to get the full alphabet! At that time they did not include a letter Z - this is a modern design created by Tiina in 2003. This
alphabet was also published in June 1866 and again in 1867 in the Arthur's magazine.
